Install device libraries in DaMatrix

The device libraries on damatrix.app are ready-made sets of real equipment, sorted by brand and category, with front and rear panels drawn to size. This guide shows you how to get one from the website into DaMatrix so its devices are ready to drop into any rack.

Installing a library is free, and once it is installed it lives on your computer, so it keeps working offline.

Download a library

Go to the Libraries page, find the brand you need (search, or filter by category), and click Download. You get a single file ending in .synapse-library, for example UBIQUITY.synapse-library. Your browser saves it to your Downloads folder. Leave the file as it is: there is nothing to unzip.

Open the device library in DaMatrix

Open DaMatrix and click DEVICE LIBRARY in the top bar. Make sure you are at the top level, MY LIBRARY. If you are inside a category or brand folder, click MY LIBRARY in the toolbar to jump back up. The import button only shows at the top level.

Import the file

Click the up arrow (Import Library) in the MY LIBRARY toolbar. Pick the .synapse-library file you downloaded and click Open.

DaMatrix tells you how many files it is about to add and where they will go, for example MY LIBRARY / Networking / Ubiquiti. Click Import Library to confirm.

Find your new devices

When the import finishes, DaMatrix opens the brand folder it just installed and confirms how many files were imported. The brand appears inside its category, next to anything you already had.

To use a device, open your project, then open the device in the device library and choose Add to Current Project.

Updating and adding more libraries

Import one library file at a time. To install several brands, repeat the import for each file.

When a newer version of a library is posted, download it and import it the same way. Devices at the same location are updated, and everything else in your library stays in place, including devices you made yourself.
