10G Internet port1 on the panel
The yellow 10 Gbps port near the bottom is the internet port. Connect it to your cable, fiber or DSL modem. It handles cable and fiber plans up to 10 Gbps.
It can also team up with LAN port 4 (Internet Link Aggregation) for more than 1 Gbps from a compatible modem.
10G LAN and 4 gigabit LAN ports5 on the panel
The top port is a 10 Gbps LAN port, the natural link to a multi-gig switch, NAS or workstation. Below it are four gigabit LAN ports.
LAN 1 and 2 can be combined (link aggregation) for up to 2 Gbps to a NAS that supports it. LAN 4 is the partner for Internet Link Aggregation.

Two kinds of aggregation. Link Aggregation joins LAN 1 and 2 toward a NAS. Internet Link Aggregation joins LAN 4 and the internet port toward a modem. Use the one that matches the device.

Setup
You need broadband service and a modem with an RJ45 Ethernet connector. Connect the modem to the yellow 10G internet port, power the router on, then set it up with the Nighthawk app on your phone. The app also manages the network remotely, runs speed tests and sets up separate main, IoT and guest WiFi networks.
