48 gigabit PoE ports48 on the panel

Ports 1 to 48 are 10/100/1000 RJ45 ports, numbered in pairs: odd numbers on the top row, even numbers on the bottom.

Ports 1 to 8 are PoE+ (802.3at) and can deliver up to 30 W each, enough for pan-tilt cameras and dual-band access points. Ports 9 to 48 are standard PoE (802.3af) at up to 15.4 W, for phones, small cameras and basic access points.

4 SFP fiber ports4 on the panel

Ports 49 to 52 are 100/1000 SFP cages for fiber or copper SFP modules. Use them to uplink to a core switch or to reach another closet over fiber. They run at up to 1 Gbps, so they take 1G SFP modules, not 10G SFP+.

Plan the PoE budget. All 48 ports can supply power, but the switch has 384 W to share. Put the hungriest devices on ports 1 to 8, and watch the PoE Max LED: it lights when less than 7 W is left.

Front panel LEDs

Power
Solid green: running normally. Blinking green: internal supply has failed and the switch is running on backup power. Solid yellow: booting. Off: no power.
Fan
Solid yellow: a fan has failed. Off: fans are normal.
PoE Max
Solid yellow: less than 7 W of PoE power left. Blinking yellow: it was lit in the last 2 minutes. Off: at least 7 W free.
LED Mode
Solid green: port LEDs show Ethernet link. Solid yellow: port LEDs show PoE status.
Port LEDs (Ethernet mode)
Green: linked at 1000 Mbps. Yellow: linked at 10 or 100 Mbps.

The Reset and Factory Defaults buttons are below the system LEDs on the left. Factory Defaults returns every setting to the out-of-box values, including the password.

First login and setup

  1. Connect the switch to your network. DHCP is on by default, so it picks up an address from your router.
  2. If there is no DHCP server, the switch uses 192.168.0.239. Set your computer to an address in the 192.168.0.x range (for example 192.168.0.200) and connect it to any port.
  3. Open a browser to the switch's address and log in. The default password is password.
  4. Change the password, set a fixed IP address if you want one, then configure VLANs, PoE and the rest from the web interface.

Finding the switch. NETGEAR's Smart Control Center utility can discover the switch on your network and show the address it picked up from DHCP.

What the switch can do

  • VLANs: up to 256 802.1Q VLANs, plus voice VLAN and Auto-VoIP.
  • Link aggregation: up to 8 LAGs to bond ports for more bandwidth or redundancy.
  • Spanning tree: STP, RSTP and MSTP (16 instances).
  • Routing: static routes and inter-VLAN routing for up to 15 VLANs.
  • QoS: 4 queues per port, 802.1p, DSCP and Auto-QoS.
  • Security: 802.1X, MAC and IP ACLs, port MAC lock-down and management access rules.
  • Multicast: IGMP snooping v1, v2 and v3.

Frequently asked questions

Which ports on the GS752TP are PoE+?+

Ports 1 to 8 are PoE+ (802.3at) at up to 30 W each. Ports 9 to 48 are PoE (802.3af) at up to 15.4 W each.

What is the PoE budget of the GS752TP?+

384 W shared across all PoE ports. The PoE Max LED lights when less than 7 W is left.

Are the GS752TP SFP ports 10G?+

No. Ports 49 to 52 are 100/1000 SFP ports, so they run at up to 1 Gbps and take 1G SFP modules.

What is the default IP address of the GS752TP?+

DHCP is on by default. If no DHCP server answers, the switch uses 192.168.0.239.

What is the default password for the GS752TP?+

The default password is password. Change it at first login.

How do I reset the GS752TP to factory defaults?+
