Every port on the OptiPlex 7060 Micro, explained
Click a card to light up those ports on the panels above.
6 USB ports6 on the panel
The front has one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port and one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port. Both support PowerShare, so they can charge a phone while the PC is off.
The back has four USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports in two stacks. One of them supports SmartPower On, which lets a USB keyboard or mouse wake the PC.
2 DisplayPort outputs2 on the panel
Two full-size DisplayPort outputs on the back drive two monitors. The option slot can add a third video output (DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0b, VGA or USB Type-C).
Network port1 on the panel
One gigabit RJ45 port. For a small server or lab node, this is the port to patch into your switch. Wi-Fi is optional, through an M.2 card and the external antenna connectors.
Audio jacks2 on the panel
Two 3.5 mm jacks on the front: a universal headset jack (headphones, or a headset with a mic) and a line-out for powered speakers.
Power connector1 on the panel
The round power connector on the back takes Dell's external power adapter: 90 W for 35 W processors or 130 W for 65 W processors. Use the adapter that matches the processor in your unit.
Also on the panels
- Power button on the front, with the status light built in, plus a drive activity light.
- Option slot on the back for an extra video port (DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0b, VGA or USB Type-C).
- Antenna connectors (optional) for an M.2 Wi-Fi card.
- Padlock ring, cable holder and Kensington slot for locking the unit and its cables in place.
- Cover thumbscrew on the back: undo it and slide the cover toward the front to open the case.
Standing upright on a rack shelf
Standing in the vertical stand, the 7060 Micro is 182 mm (7.2 in.) tall, which takes about 5U of rack height on a shelf. It is only 36 mm wide, so several units can stand side by side. The stand keeps the vents clear on both sides.
Mind the adapter. The power adapter is a separate brick. Give it a spot on the shelf or a cable tray so its weight doesn't pull on the power connector.
Inside the case: memory and storage
- Shut down and unplug the PC.
- Remove the thumbscrew on the back, slide the cover toward the front and lift it off.
- Lift out the 2.5 in. drive assembly to reach the rest of the board.
- Memory: pull the clips away from a SODIMM until it pops up, then lift it out. There are two slots, up to 32 GB in total.
- M.2 SSD: remove its screw and slide the drive out of the slot.
Put everything back in the reverse order, then refit the cover and the thumbscrew.
Power button light codes
If the PC fails its startup checks, the light in the power button blinks a code: a number of amber blinks, then a number of white blinks.
| Amber, white | What it means |
|---|---|
| 2, 1 | System board fault |
| 2, 2 | System board, power supply or power cabling |
| 2, 3 | System board, memory or processor |
| 2, 4 | Coin cell battery |
| 2, 5 | Corrupt BIOS |
| 2, 6 | Processor configuration or failure |
| 2, 7 | Memory found but failing |
| 3, 1 | PCI device or video failure |
| 3, 2 | Storage or USB failure |
| 3, 3 | No memory detected |
| 3, 4 | Fatal system board error |
| 3, 5 | Memory modules incompatible or set up wrong |
No power, no boot? With the PC off and plugged in, hold the power button for 20 seconds. That resets the real-time clock (RTC) and often brings a stuck unit back.
Built-in diagnostics
The ePSA diagnostics are built into the BIOS. Open the one-time boot menu at startup, pick Diagnostics, and let it test every part it finds. If a test fails, note the error code and validation number before you contact Dell.
